Alan and I had breakfast in Tremont again yesterday. I jokingly mentioned “taking a knee” (#ColinKaepernick) and Alan told me he didn’t even want to talk politics or crazy current affairs. I couldn’t argue with that although we did manage to touch on some of it a time or two. It is hard to avoid in this crazy world.

We talked a bit about the new Star Trek series. Alan started watching it and wasn’t impressed. I didn’t bother because it is on a CBS subscription channel and I’m not going to pay just to watch a series I may not even like.

An accused bank robber was shot 18 or 20 times by the Peoria police. The family claims he was executed and I agree. The police admit they shot to kill. That is an execution.

I suspect if this had been a white man from a prominent family the multitude of highly trained cops would have found a better way to apprehend him.

The most modern and accurate sniper rifles in the hands of well trained professionals and they couldn’t do better than shoot him 18 or 20 times? They couldn’t maybe shoot the gun hand? No. We shoot to kill. That is the definition of an execution.

At this rate we won’t have any need for a judge or jury.
