#Twitter I’m experimenting with the “Twitter Roundup” (above). It is just too easy to grab a screen shot of these snippets as I browse. I’ve found that as I go back in time on this Blog those little bites of time are interesting and this silly Blog is slowly becoming more a diary of events rather than my soapbox to stand upon.

Aaron dropped by yesterday afternoon with another load of his stuff. He and Tracey spent some time figuring out which one of the three network wires in basement to use to hook up his computer.
He is slowly moving his stuff back home and should be living here full time again by the end of the coming week. He already has had his mail forwarded. It is his plan to spend some time with us and save his money to make the big leap to another city far away.

I was just going through my news photo web sites for the day and I ran across a photo collection of CPAC. What a rogues’ gallery of idiots, misfits and criminals. I couldn’t bring myself to include any of those mugshots in my News Photo section so this chronicles my disdain.

#BreakfastAlan One of the subjects discussed at breakfast Friday morning was the Tazewell county tax issue on the upcoming ballot. One of the things I was inarticulate about at the time was Alan’s assertion about how small the amount for road repairs was in our tax bill. What I didn’t think to say is that is because of the county board, not us.
They deliberately refuse to define referendums for specific repairs. EVERY referendum I have ever seen has ALWAYS included some pork hidden with the vital needs.
My best example was the last huge school referendum. We ended up increasing our tax load a great deal for a lot of bullshit like athletic fields, basketball courts, beautiful lobby, etc. in order to gain a couple classrooms. Had they been required to list each of those things separately we could all have saved hundreds of dollars a year (each) in wasteful taxes.

Full circle on the statements above. If you look into what it takes to address the county board, the school board, etc. you will find you can’t just show up and tell them what you think at any given meeting.
You often have to reserve time and tell them specifically what you want to address and they don’t have to answer your questions or even present your views at decision time.
Our so-called democracy has become so subverted that those people can have you thrown out if you question their authority to spend your money.

There is an error log file on my blog site. I check it every day and then restart it. In the past 24 hours it has logged 4,701 connection errors. I can’t imagine how that is possible unless the site is being bombarded by somebody because I certainly never get that kind of traffic on my Blog. Curiouser and Curiouser.

I know I have commented before about how I go back through the Blog every day. I click on “last year” to briefly check for link rot and read the day’s entries for that year.
I don’t know if I have mentioned how often I frown and say to myself, “Oh yeah, I forgot about that.” Not that I actually forgot about it altogether but it simply wasn’t in the forefront of my mind. It is amazing how some of these topics, like mass killings, continue year after year with the same arguments and no change.

Remember last month when Walt Disney Co. announced it would give a $1,000 annual bonus to 125,000 of its employees? There’s an important caveat the corporation conveniently left out: the bonus is being used as leverage to settle negotiations with a union that represents low-wage workers.
