I saw a familiar name in the #Obituary column. I remember Butch McClellan as the guy who collected our trash. I didnt know him well but I know he was a good guy.
The link above triggered a vivid memory for me. Not only of #ButchMcClellan emptying a garbage can into his truck, but also of just how filthy the job was back in the 60s. We didnt have plastic garbage bags back then.
I can remember taking the trash out to the can. It was usually in a soggy brown sack from the grocery store. Smelly and soaked with grease or whatever. All that was just dumped into a beat up metal can with a lid that didnt fit very well.
The picture of Butch standing at the curb wearing a one piece blue jump suit with a zipper up the front. All stained and stinky with dark sweat stains under the arms and down his back. He usually had a grin from ear to ear and a few dirty smudges on his face as he handed the empty can back to me. And he wore big thick gloves. The kind with the heavy cuff that came up over his sleeves.
The truck left a small trail of drippings down the road as it went from house to house. And usually a larger puddle when Butch engaged the compactor to squeeze out all that juicy guck in the garbage.

#MedicalMafia It seems I wrote up my Curmudgeon report a little prematurely. I had another phone conversation yesterday with yet another minion of the #TremontClinic. They cant seem to get their notes straight and had to ask once again how much Metformin I take, when, etc. Im sure this is at least my fourth or fifth call since the last appointment and they still cant get it right.
I asked the nurse if they didnt have this all backward. Wasnt I spending hundreds of dollars for THEM to tell me what medicine to take? I had to hang up before I got too snotty. It is hard to get just snotty enough without starting to shout.

#ButchMcClellan I believe Butch was my roommate the one, and so far only, time I was in the hospital. I was 4 or 5, I think, when I had my tonsils and adenoids removed. If I recall correctly, he had appendicitis. I remember him as a very pleasant fellow.
#ButchMcClellan Hi Michael, Small world isnt it? I always liked him but I really didnt know him that well. What impressed me was he seemed always in a good mood no matter what.
