We started yesterday at the #TremontHouse. Tracey worked in the bathroom while I replaced an air vent cover in one of the bedrooms. We weren’t there for much more than an hour before going to Jack’s for breakfast.

After a short afternoon nap I finished my narration of Tracey’s PowerPoint slides. I had a real bad time with some of the technical jargon on one of the slides and didn’t’ think I would get through it without flubbing it up.
Tracey finished editing it and then uploaded it to the #Fresenius site where her co-workers will get a chance to view and offer suggestions or changes. I may have to do some of the narration over again.

#Union I found this little Labor Day meme on social media. It seems every Labor Day I see something like this and the comments are easily predictable. Somebody who works in an office protests that they “work for a living too”.
I spent 30 years working in the factories of Caterpillar. The last 21/2 in an air conditioned office. I can tell you from personal experience that it is an apples and oranges kind of fruit story.
Working in any environment where you wear work shoes like these pictured usually involve physical stress, physical pain, and sometimes, danger to life or limb.
Working in an office may require some mental stress but the comparison is soon impossible to make. I’ve never known anyone to require stitches to close a paper cut.
Then there are those who immediately proclaim the guy wearing work shoes is only doing that work because he is too stupid to work in an office. Another ridiculous rant from someone who couldn’t begin to figure out how to operate heavy machinery without an accident. And this would also be a person who doesn’t realize that most of that machinery is worth millions of dollars. A bit pricier than your average computer keyboard or office copier.
Mainly, though, I think this meme gains traction because the working guy gets real tired of hearing how “any trained monkey” could do his job and the office guy is so brainy his work gives him headaches.
I think the proof in the pudding is that I don’t think I have ever seen someone post a picture of a suit and tie guy sitting at a keyboard with the caption that says, “I work hard for a living.”
If anything most of those guys (and gals) will be quick to brag about how they got it made in the shade and living easy.
But so do a lot of well paid folks who do hard labor for a living.
Just remember, the place where you live and the car you drive were NOT made by the guy in the office chair alone. Or the other way around.
