Yes. Caterpillar, for instance, sponsored dozens of community groups, sporting teams etc. Had events for employees and clubs. I belonged to a CAT sponsored ham radio club and they provided funding and meeting rooms. Then all that slowly started disappearing and they went on the offensive, challenging every tax law and refusing to pay.
