Last night, Special Counsel Jack Smith asked the Supreme Court to decide Trump’s claim that he is immune from any and all criminal prosecution for anything he did while in office. That claim is central to Trump’s defense; he has requested the charges against him be dismissed because of that immunity.
#TinBadgeTyrants My first interactions with strutting cops was as a youngster growing up in Marquette Heights. We had only one full time cop and he wasn’t a bad sort, but there were a succession of part-time and volunteer cops and most of them were just bullies in uniform. They would stop a kid to ask what they were doing, where they were going, where they lived, etc. Very much like the cops who pull drivers to the side of the road to harass them about irrelevant things just because they can. They were known as #BarneyFife because of the way they acted. I can still picture them with their legs apart, hands behind the back with their chest thrust forward as they lectured. Preening peacocks in uniform.
I can remember thinking when I got to be an adult they couldn’t treat me that way. I was certainly wrong about that. If anything they are worse with adults.
