When I was in high school a buddy and I were driving east on Court St. in Pekin when cop cars went flying past us with lights flashing. As we rounded the curve we saw them pulling into the Dunkin’ Donuts Mr. Donut where there was already another cop car parked. We thought we better pull in too because maybe the place was being robbed or something. Nope. Two tables full of cops munching donuts.
Some emergency. The epitome of abuse of authority.

Think you mean Mr. Donut, not Dunkin Donuts. I remember it fondly, grab a couple donuts before school and drive around Sunset Hills getting high. Did better in school after I started smoking the devil’s weed, (my junior year), strangely enough.

I think you are right and I was wrong. (I will make a correction!)
And I agree about the smoke —— I think there was something about being more relaxed that made learning easier yet less important. Something like that.

It was Dunkin Donuts after Mr. Donut but that was well after HS.

I’m sure you are right. I can remember the “window seat” where you could sit and watch them making the donuts. That was Mr. Donut.
