#TinBadgeTyrants This incident revealed how these guys can turn on a dime. Back in the early to mid 70s a buddy and I were driving in Pekin when we saw an orange glow in the night sky. We eventually made our way to Second St. where the lumber company was on fire. (Butler Lumber?). We parked and got out to join the throng of onlookers already there. It looked like every fire truck and cop car from the entire county was there. We wandered around trying to get a closer look and ended up at a tape line where a bunch of cops were loitering. We talked a bit with a couple cops and everything was cool until my buddy mentioned it would be a good night to rob houses because every cop in town was there. The cops instantly turned nasty and told us to leave or get arrested. You dont want to even casually mention this kind of truth to these swaggering thugs.

I stumbled into a home renovation video / photo group and I was so appalled. Beautiful wood floors painted over. Old wooden walls torn apart and wall papered. Rich wood grain kitchen cabinets painted white. Natural stone fireplace painted purple. On and on these people are so proud of destroying charming old homes by making them brighter with cheap paint and wallpaper. Too sad.
