We went to #Culvers to pick up supper yesterday and sat waiting in line for the food to be brought. We noticed what was obviously a new employee being shown how to deliver as he had an escort talking to him as they walked down the line of cars. We immediately noticed the new guy had Downs.
Later, as Tracey was looking back toward the door, she suddenly put her hand on my arm saying, Here comes our food, now be nice!. I knew without looking it was the new guy bringing our food. I admit I was taken aback by her saying that as if I was going to be rude or say something nasty.
I didnt say much but as we were driving home I thought about this a bit. And my initial concern that I was somehow an ogre abated and I realized she had never, ever, told me to be nice before and that it was more about the young mans condition rather than about me. It was about her kind and compassionate nature. Her concern for the fellows condition and that we must not be anything other than nice to him.
One of the many reasons why I love her.
