On July 2nd, 1776, the Second Continental Congress passed a “Resolution for Independence” declaring “That these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States, that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain is, and ought to be, totally dissolved.”
My brother Alan dropped by for a couple hours yesterday. We talked about current events and past occasions. I enjoyed the visit.

We canceled our #DiscoverCard. I have had it for almost fifty years; it was my first credit card. We haven’t used it much over the past decade or so and now that it is being taken over by Capital One, we’ve decided it is time for it to go.
