In 2020, the Boy Scouts of America filed for bankruptcy protection in the first step toward creating a huge compensation fund for men who were molested as youngsters decades ago by scoutmasters or other leaders; the organization urged victims to come forward.
I was very involved with the Boy Scouts until I was too old to belong. I have no doubt whatsoever that the men who volunteered to be Scoutmasters and leaders, including my father, would have personally castrated any man who tried to molest us. All of my Scoutmasters over the years were combat veterans of World War Two and/or Korea. None of them lacked the courage or conviction to right such a wrong. #BSA |
