In 1948, Axis Sally (Mildred Elizabeth (Sisk) Gillars) was charged with treason in Washington, DC. She was captured in Berlin and became the first woman convicted of treason against the USA. In March 1949, she was sentenced to 10 to 30 years imprisonment. She was released in 1961. #AxisSally Back when there were consequences for treason.  |
