In 1968, President Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ) signed the Uniform Monday Holiday Bill, which moved commemorations for Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day and Veterans Day to Monday, creating three-day holiday weekends beginning in 1971. #LBJ
