Dave Meholic places returned empty bottles onto the washing machine conveyor at the Straub Brewery in St. Marys, PA. In the next few months the brewery will decide whether it continues selling beer in returnable bottles. If enough customers return thousands of empty cases, likely gathering dust in garages or basements, Straub will keep selling cases of 12 and 16 ounce returnable bottles past year’s end.
