Protesters break the windows of the U.S. Embassy in Sanaa, Yemen. Hundreds of Yemeni demonstrators stormed the embassy in protest against a film they consider blasphemous to Islam, and security guards tried to hold them off by firing into the air. The unrest in Sanaa came two days after U.S. Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens and three other staff members were killed at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and protesters breached the walls of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo. The Yemeni Embassy in Washington said no casualties were reported, and Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi issued an apology to the United States, ordering an investigation into the incident. |
