Third shift was the late night / early morning shift. Usually from just before midnight until early morning, say 11:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Our week would begin on Sunday night and end on Friday morning. Working a Saturday would then mean you also went in to work late on Friday night. I worked this shift for over ten years.
