#Ameren is acting like a small child having a tantrum to get what it wants. Here is the latest round of attempted extortion. At the rate they are going you have to wonder what is next? Don’t be surprised to experience a number of unexplained blackouts in retaliation for thwarting their greed if the rate freeze is extended.

It’s official —— #Ameren Cilco gets away with the extortion of the power monopoly virtually unchecked by our lousy excuse for a government. It appears I will be getting a one time check of around $100 and then a price reduction of $8 per month. This after my bills doubled overnight last January. Welcome to Amerika. It’s no wonder the Afghans and Iraqis are reluctant to accept our form of government —— it doesn’t work so too good for the common citizen when he or she comes up against the corporation. We kill people to dig the coal to run the power plants and let people die from heat or cold because they can’t afford the power.

I had been concerned about my #Ameren Cilco rebate check. I thought I had mistakenly thrown it away a week or so ago thinking it was a bill. I pay my bills online so have just been throwing the paper bills away unopened. I have quit doing that now after thinking I had thrown the check away. I received the check in the mail yesterday. I got a rebate of $227.50. A nice amount of money but really not much considering how much our bills went up forever. A bit of chump change to shut people up.

I drove to Pekin on Allentown yesterday to get some groceries. Just before the S curve near Veteran’s I saw several #Ameren CILCO trucks and then the sign below. There is a fenced off area with a bunch of natural gas pipes fenced in and the signs were on either side of that. About 50 feet after I took this picture there was a strong odor of gas. I went home a different way. I guess they got it fixed without blowing the world up because I didn’t see anything about it in the news.

Our power went out again last night round 7 p.m. It was off for about 1.5 hours. The confirmation call we got from #Ameren said it was “an animal on line” again. third time in the past month. Tracey says we will never hear one that says “equipment failure”, or “rusty transformer broke”, or “rotten pole fell down”, ETC. Sure, blame it on the animals.

#PowerOutage
Our power went out a little past 6:00 last evening. The #Ameren-Cilco recording said there were only seven homes without power so it was just our lane.

Just before 7:00 a truck came cruising down our lane and the power was back on just before 8:00. We got a followup call —— a recorded message telling us the cause of the outage was “an animal on power line”.

That’s the third time in a row they have used that excuse! Every time this happens it reminds me just how spoiled we are and how soon we realize that life without electricity is very boring.

#PowerOutage
Since our recent spate of power outages I have received a couple surveys from #Ameren and I filled them out. I also sent an email to customer service.

A couple days ago I got an email back that said one outage had been caused by a racoon and three were undetermined. This email also said they would continue to check into it and get back to me.

Yesterday I got another email from somebody else at CILCO saying he would continue to investigate and this morning I saw somebody in a yellow vest and yellow hard hat over at my neighbor’s electrical box.

Maybe they will sort this out after all? I understand these things happen but I would like to see them prevent them from happening in the future. If the same location gets shut down four times in one week I should think something needs to be shielded or repaired.

I’ve received two more survey requests from #Ameren CILCO and I’ve yet to hear what (or if) they have decided to do about the problem. I have to say I’m not much interested in them begging for compliments. I would much rather they just investigate the problem and fix it.

Our power went out at 6:00 last evening and didn’t come back on until around 8:30. There’s nothing like sitting around a flashlight to help you appreciate electricity.

Once again we had somebody come knocking on our door saying they are from Cilco (happened two years ago too) and want to check our electric bill to see if they can save us some money. Tracey sent them packing. They were wearing #Ameren Cilco name tags and had it embroidered on their shirts, but I still think it is some kind of scam. I wish #OakLawn management would stop these clowns from bothering people.

Same spot as last time, at the end of our road.
Hope we get more than three months out of this repair.
