I met Tracey at her clinic in Pekin and we rode to #Avanti in East Peoria for some Italian supper. A pretty good scooter ride in rush hour traffic. We took the back roads through the Farmdale dam area with lots of hills, curves, bumps and railroad tracks.

I think I enjoyed the ride as much as my all-you-can-eat spaghetti supper! Tracey still has about 180 more miles on her bike than I do on mine but I am slowly catching up with her.

The new #Avanti opened in Pekin yesterday afternoon and Tracey had to stop on her way home and bring home Italian food! We are going to be in so much trouble! We both love their lasagna and that is not exactly a diet food.

Oddly enough the opening day for Avanti’s was full of excitement which had nothing to do with their food —— The Holiday Inn Express right next to them burned down. The video I linked to above was on YouTube while the building was still burning. Talk about a changing world of instant news.

I drove Tracey to work yesterday and we went to #Avanti for supper when I picked her up.

The food was good but it was rather a long wait for it. I suppose there is a learning curve for the new employees —— I hope that is it because we won’t keep going if the wait is always that long.

Tracey stopped at #Avanti on her way home from work yesterday and picked up some Gondola sandwiches. This was the second day in a row for eating take home from there! We knew when they opened this new restaurant we would be eating there too often.

Yesterday was such a lazy day I could almost say nothing happened. I volunteered to go to town for food if Tracey called it in so we had #Avanti for supper.

They always screw up our name and they also shorted us an order of garlic bread that Tracey wanted. She called them back and they are supposed to have made some note in their computer for us to get it at a later date but who knows what name it is really under. Probably Lagel.

We stopped by #Avanti again for supper yesterday and it appears “the new” may have worn off a bit. It wasn’t as crowded as it has been over the past few weeks.

Tracey brought #Avanti home for supper last night and we pigged out in front of the TV watching another of the Foyle’s War series. I really get a kick out of the WW2 period British shows.

I was going to take a scooter ride yesterday but I finally forced myself to go get groceries instead. We were running out of stuff!

I did get to scooter to #Avanti yesterday evening to have lunch with Tracey. I was surprised at how empty the parking lot was —— we must have gotten there before the evening rush —— or perhaps the new has finally worn off.

Tracey called me on her way home from Macomb yesterday and asked me to meet her at #Avanti in Pekin for supper. I rode my #Piaggio scooter which almost turned out to be a big mistake.

They had sprayed some kind of oil goo on Allentown Road and it was like trying to balance the scooter on wet snot. What a slippery drive for the mile long stretch up to Springfield Road.

On the way home I had to slowly follow a maintenance truck over the same slippery stretch. There was a guy in the back of the truck unreeling a red string down the middle of the road. I assume this was to mark where some part of the future new surface would be paved.

No measuring, just by guess and by gosh this string wavered down the middle of the road. So why bother if they are just guessing? Couldn’t they just guess where to put down whatever the string was supposed to be marking?

I rode my motorcycle to meet Tracey for supper at #Avanti in Pekin after she got off work last evening. Then we went to #Walmart to get some soda. Just one of the many reasons why I hate Wal-mart is they put the soda in the farthest corner from the door. I wonder if people really are so stupid they forget why they came and buy other junk just because they have to walk by it on the long journey to the things they really want to buy? It never fails that the most popular items are the farthest from the door. The check-out gal asked me if I found everything OK and I mentioned that I did only after walking a half mile round trip to the farthest corner of outer Wal-mart. Next time I will drive to Schnuck’s.

I applied for a job at the #Avanti Dome yesterday. I stumbled upon an Internet ad for “Administrative Assistant”.

After ranting a good while about the nonsense of submitting a “Resume” for a nearly minimum wage job —— I did it anyway.

Tracey says she won’t even consider an applicant for a job that doesn’t have a resume. So I guess the insanity is full circle. You have to play the game to get anywhere. I tried not to embellish or lie too much. I didn’t even mention that time I was “Ruler of the World” or anything.

I think resumes boil down to who can tell the most convincing lies without misspelling anything or using bad grammar.

I had a nice birthday yesterday —— Tracey took me to lunch at Monical’s in Pekin which then required a short nap. I lounged around the house all day either watching TV or reading. Tracey also went to #Avanti and brought supper home. I think the only thing resembling work for me yesterday was loading and running the dish washer —— not a bad day!

One thing I forgot to mention earlier —— Tracey and I stopped at #Avanti for supper on the way home after I picked her up from work. They screwed up my order (there seems to be a recurring theme here?) but they made it right AND took my entire meal off the bill. So we got a free meal at both #RubyTuesday’s and Avanti over the past few weeks, but didn’t get a meal at all from #ChicagoHut. Is it just us? Does everyone have this much trouble with food orders?

And also — Tracey and I stopped at #Avanti for supper on the way home. I was going to get a pizza burger but changed my mind when I discovered it was “all you can eat” spaghetti Monday.

Tracey had the pizza burger and I ate all the spaghetti and very much regretted it by the time we got home.
Good though. With meatballs too.

Late in the afternoon we went to visit with Mom a while —— she seems to be doing pretty well. She was sitting in the recliner in front of the television. We stopped at #Avanti in E. Peoria on the way home and I was surprised at how much has changed in Sunnyland and that part of E. Peoria. It seems like buildings go up and down pretty regularly every ten years.

Tracey got home from Davenport a bit early last evening and she crashed on the couch for a short nap. I grabbed a blanket and did the same in my recliner.

Around 6 p.m. we decided to get some pizza for supper and Tracey called our order in to #Avanti in Pekin. I didn’t realize until I went slip-sliding out to the garage that the freezing drizzle and rain had already commenced. A white knuckle drive to Pekin and back took about twice as long as usual.

Fortunately the salt trucks had already made at least one pass on the roads but I was sure glad to get home in one piece.

I went to #Avanti in Pekin and picked up a couple pizzas for supper. We beached in front of the TV and talked with Ben a little. He was in and out busy gathering up stuff he wanted us to ship to him in Olympia. He has also accumulated a pile of stuff he wants to make sure we don’t dispose of in our continued house cleaning.

We went to a small family reunion at #Avanti in Pekin. My niece Shandi and her family were up from Texas to attend her brother’s wedding this weekend. Alan and Gloria came home from their Colorado trip just in time to be there too. Lizz, Drew, Tom, Ashley, DD, Aunt Sharon and Unique were also there.

We took a road trip to drop off the Amazon video camera I didn’t want at the UPS Store in Pekin and pick up some food from #Avanti Italian food for supper. The UPS Store was closed of course. They close at 3 p.m. and we got there at 3:30. I should have checked and didn’t. That’s what happens when a business used to have regular hours and doesn’t any more.
