I had virtually this same discussion with a guy at work. He was a college graduate with an engineering degree and his wife taught grade school. Neither of them could understand the basic stupidity of playing games with number lines in school when you will NEVER EVER use one in real life.

This crap has invaded our schools and simply makes the learning of mathematics more difficult and time consuming. This is an outcome of the over educated minions of the Education Mafia trying to score points instead of simply teaching basic concepts. #CommonCore

Glenn Beck Is Against Common Core Teaching

Pretty scary stuff isn’t it. Unfortunately people tend to think when a right wing loon like Glenn Beck has an opinion the knee jerk reaction ought to be the opposite.

I mean, really, who WANTS to agree with Glenn Beck about anything - Right? But even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

The #EducationMafia is trying to make the case that only the uneducated would be against education. As if their way is the only way? The evidence is mounting that one size fits all education standards based upon testing criteria and “project sharing” are the exact opposite of teaching kids how to think for themselves.

I am SO glad our three boys are out of school. But I am concerned that our son Ben, who is going to be a teacher, is going to get caught up in this sham education system.

Speak up people. Don’t let the profit driven Education Mafia decide the fate of education opportunity in America. The fact is that not one of the countries that have better education systems have anything as goofy as these #CommonCore policies that only serve to dumb down the process to a “one-size-fits-all” approach.

I stumbled upon this example of the insanity that is #CommonCore math teaching. It makes absolutely no sense to try to teach grade school kids this unmitigated crap!

There is a reason we use discreet numbers to add. Suppose you have three apples and three pears and I ask you how many pieces of fruit you have? 5 + 1 makes no sense in that context or any context in which labels mean something. 8 boys plus 7 girls doesn’t equate to 10 + 5 children. I am SO very glad our boys are already through school. We had enough trouble with education hijinks without all this mind numbing insanity.

I spent 30 years using higher mathematics and I can tell you this Common Core bullshit is simply going to ruin any motivation for kids to learn math.

I am completely disgusted with the attitude that says you must “understand” math instead of memorizing basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. I want to quickly GET THE ANSWER —— not moon over what it means to reach the answer.

Why is memorizing how to spell words, proper grammar, names, etc. acceptable but not math? We have already fallen far behind the rest of the world and this will simply increase the depth and speed of total math ignorance.

So lets think about this for a minute. Clearly the toonist
didn’t think about it at all. If the child WAS an honor student
because of #CommonCore and isn’t now that can only mean that
Common Core allowed an ignorant student to seem smart and now we
know the ignorant student can’t hide behind Common Core and

This idiot #CommonCore math video starts out with, “So math, in some ways, is like baking ——”

Seriously. Math is like baking. This concept really highlights just how much these people truly don’t understand how badly they confuse kids with this bullshit because math is not like baking, or color by number, or number lines, or anything else. Math in every way is like MATH. It was NEVER taught like a recipe —— it was taught by picturing units of real world things like this many apples plus this many apples is how many apples? Common Core tries to teach in the abstract what we used to teach, and should teach, in the real world —— not a bunch of hoodoo number lines and #Ridiculous complicated nonsense.

Number sense? Seriously? So we develop a new language to describe simple mathematics instead of just teaching simple math. Kids understand how to count things. Heck, even your dog knows when you take two treats and only give him one. You don’t need a number line or “Number Sense”. The concepts are much easier to understand when you stick to reality instead of trying to teach abstract concepts to grade school kids. A jar of pennies would make much more sense in learning to add and subtract instead of an imaginary world built around “Number Sense”.

So they show a list of all the countries that do better than America does in math. Want to bet how many of them teach to the test. How many of them have the same people designing Common Core stupid to standardize education so you HAVE to use it to pass THEIR test? Education isn’t an industry in those countries. They teach math to make their students more educated —— not to make money off the process by selling snake oil like Common Core.

Then they try to make it sound like people over 20 are to blame because they don’t recognize their snake oil process. Of course anyone who truly understands math understands what they are up to —— I don’t get angry because I “don’t recognize” what they are doing. I get angry because what they are doing is needlessly complicated and confusing for children to learn math. And those social media examples that circulate don’t just seem really nonsensical, they are truly nonsense!

I think everybody should circulate this goofy video and really listen to the bullshit being spewed. I mean pay attention and understand that she is trying to SELL this process instead of explain it because you can’t explain stupid to somebody who understands you clearly have no clue how people learn a new process. KISS is the best teaching method. Keep It Simple Stupid. And Common Core is the most complicated teaching method for The Flavor of the Month teaching process.

Sadly this article acknowledges the sometimes truly horrendous approach schools take in teaching math and then twist that into calling it the parents’ inadequacy in teaching the kids it isn’t truly nonsense. Now we have #CommonCore where millions of math literate parents have to teach their children how to conform to this insanity while at the same time try to teach them how to do real math. I was accosted by a sixth grade teacher on Facebook about my #CommonCore rant. He went on to relate a story about how much easier it was to teach multiplication of fractions using Common Core.

I almost can’t imagine a more useless endeavor than teaching the centuries old concept of multiplying fractions in the age of calculators. Not only has the education system not moved forward with the reality of the times —— who multiplies fractions in the real world? —— but now defends using new fangled methods to teach a nearly worthless process.

I think that ranks right up there with teaching kids how to sharpen a quill pen. You know, just for the experience.

A satirical thought —— I read a statement that somebody made “three times less” money than another person for the same job.

I’m thinking to myself, “Is this person an outcome of #CommonCore math or do they not understand this makes no mathematical sense?”
