On this day in 1944 there was an invasion upon the German occupation of Europe. It was #DDay in the Battle of Normandy called Operation Overlord.

It just so happens I have been reading the book Band of Brothers by Stephen Ambrose which chronicles E Company from their basic training through their battles in WWII to the final capture of Hitler’s hide-out in the mountains.

I have also read the books by Tom Brokaw which highlight the spirit and sacrifice of the Greatest Generation as he calls those who lived during that time. It saddens me to see how far our country has degenerated in just a couple generations.

June 6th is the 70th anniversary of the D-day landings, when the allied countries launched an attack on German forces in Normandy, France. La Cambe, a German war cemetery near Bayeux, holds more the 21,000 German soldiers who died in the campaign.
