#5 Click this link to see Blog page --> 09/04/2015 Thursdays ruling addressed legal limits of Goodells authority, not the more important ethical issues of whether one of the leagues best players facilitated cheating. Thursday was a good day for the Patriots and their fans. But Brady still has some questions to answer. The excerpt above from the New York Times about the #DeflateGate ruling. What this hit piece accentuates is the presumption of guilt so embedded in this entire event. The statement that Brady still has questions to answer presumes he hasnt already answered them, that because Goodells secret hearings state Brady is guilty and yet provides absolutely no evidence, we must take the side of the authoritarian who just got slapped by a judge for that very presumption of guilt without evidence. This very attitude that you wouldnt be arrested if you hadnt done something wrong. That we must have somebody to answer to the alleged crime when no evidence provides a clear cut answer. And more at the heart of this charade, that your boss has the RIGHT to demand you turn over your cell phone or account for you actions away from the job. Even the rich kids arent immune from employer lynchings. |
