I finished up DD’s taxes yesterday and have almost finished ours. I can’t get in a hurry about ours because we owe money and why mail them a check before we have to!

We got our state income tax refund yesterday. It wasn’t much but every little bit helps. We had to pay more federal income tax this year so no waiting for a check from them. Either Tracey or I need to change our deductions so that doesn’t happen next year.

I started working on our income taxes, total bummer.
We have to pay almost $500 this year!
We have to make some changes in our deductions.

I spent some time working on our #IRS tax returns. I hadn’t filed them yet because we owe money and I’m never in any hurry to mail them a check. I need to get them filed though because the federal system for student grants and loans wants to use our filed return numbers to base their numbers on.

I got about a half dozen emails yesterday about those applications and I am frankly tired of messing with them. Especially if we don’t end up getting anything out of it, but then I guess we have to try.

I finally finished up our taxes yesterday. All that needs done is to sign them and mail them off. I should probably sign Tracey’s name though; I can’t remember the last time she actually signed a check or anything. They might think her signature is the forgery.

A&B both got their #IRS income tax refunds. I’m still waiting for ours. We had to wait until the IRS sorted out all the GQP tax changes, filibusters, etc. before we could even file so it may be another month before we get ours since we itemized our deductions.

We got a couple #IRS Federal tax refund checks in the mail yesterday. Aaron still hasn’t gotten his but Ben and I are happy! We had already received our Illinois tax refund although it wasn’t much to celebrate about.

I went to #AssociatedBank yesterday to deposit our state and federal #IRS income tax refunds. The teller lady said it would be five business days before the money would show up in our account. I am disgusted that they won’t account my deposits for at least five days but when I write a check they take it out immediately but there is the same five day wait before they give the money to whomever I wrote the check for.

So where does all that money go while it is in the five day limbo? Imagine all the daily interest on the millions of dollars on written checks every day that disappear into this limbo.

Aaron got his Federal #IRS Income Tax refund yesterday so now we all have our money back (a little of it anyway). I think Aaron was a little worried when Ben’s check arrived last week and his didn’t.

Finally started on the income taxes yesterday. I loaded up our tax software and started entering numbers. Discovered we can’t finish the thing for a few weeks until the tax forms are finished for college tuition credits. Don’t want to lose out on those! Aaron and Ben both sent me information so I could get the proper forms from the colleges to prove they are indeed full time students. We will get it all done eventually but I hate all the hurry up and wait.

Well I finally got our taxes finished up and e-filed. Now we all wait for the refunds. A&B get all their money back and we get some back too, but not ALL of course!

Ben was really glad to see his #IRS income tax refund check and I suspect Aaron will be too. Ben spent some time getting his FAFSA stuff all sorted and sent in on the computer. We will have to get Aaron to work on his too if he hasn’t already done it.

I did finally get all of our taxes done yesterday. The online Illinois #IRS tax forms weren’t available until yesterday or I would have finished that up sooner. Aaron, Tracey and I get some money back and Ben didn’t earn enough to even have to file.

My day started out pretty well yesterday. I discovered during my morning Internet banking that the Illinois #IRS had deposited my tax return. Not quite “free money” but close enough for government work. The day didn’t go so too well from there.

Aaron dropped by last evening to do his #IRS taxes. His went smoother than ours or Ben’s because he isn’t a teacher and had very few deductions. I don’t think he cared that much for the process. He was a bit overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of stupid questions.

I just got off the phone with the Illinois #IRS. I filed my return online on January 31st and a week later received a notice that the web return had fouled up my property tax deduction. I had to fill out a form and mail a copy of my tax bill. They received that correction on Feb. 9th.

I was just told they are currently working to resolve questions from October of last year and my “claim” might be resolved in 14 to 15 weeks. It was all I could do to remain civil. It is no wonder people are leaving Illinois by the thousands.

I finally received a letter from the Illinois #IRS and once again they re-figured our taxes and we ended up with $45 less than their web site had originally figured. The difference was in the amount of combined pension and social security benefits. I had copied the numbers over from the return my H&R Block software had calculated to the IL IRS web page. I don’t know where the error was created but I suspect it was the Illinois IRS web site that hosed it up like they did last year.

I finally finished the income taxes yesterday and got them sent off electronically. What a pain. I was anticipating some hassle since we sold the house but it turned out not to be any problem. Just the usual sorting of forms and filling in the blanks. We should get a little bit back from both state and federal. I prefer that to owing but it is still a ridiculous amount to pay.

I received an email #IRS notification that our tax forms have been “accepted” electronically by both state and federal IRS. Now we wait for the gears of bureaucracy to grind and see if there will be any problems or if we will get our refunds.

The past two years we had had problems with the state returns which is one of the reasons I spent a little extra to file with H & R Block software. We shall see if they get it right this time.

Once again the Illinois #IRS sent me an error notice in the mail. This will be the third year in a row.

The computer evidently didn’t like the amount I claimed as a deduction for our real estate taxes so I have to send copies of receipts again.

The instructions say we can claim the taxes we paid for 2017 AND the pro-rated taxes for 2018 we paid at the sale of the house. So we wait another month to six weeks for this to get straightened out.

I spent the better part of an hour making copies and filling out forms.

I went online to do our taxes. I never got back with H&R Block.
I decided it was better to cut my losses than chance them hosing up my computer to install their crap software.

Lesson learned. Never again.

I filed our taxes electronically over a week ago.
We owed the IL #IRS $87 and they snatched it out of our account two days later. If we had been getting a refund we could expect to wait a couple weeks at least. Funny how that works?

After grumbling about income taxes our federal #IRS tax refund landed in the checking account this morning. Glad to have that crap settled for another year. I sure wish we got something for all that money.

Something like a functioning government?

Finished doing #IRS taxes today. We get some back from Federal and owe some to the state. Really frosts me that Illinois charges a “convenience fee” to efile. Efiling saves them time and money; yet they charge extra to the taxpayer. Robbery times two.

I picked the quote above because we got our #IRS refund deposited and the state paid off, so that rip-off is done for another year.
