#MedicalMafia
I start on new #Insulin today so it may be a while before I get the dosages right, etc. I will be taking the fast acting before meals to go along with the long acting I take before bedtime every night.

I’m sure it will be hit and miss for a while until I figure out how it works for me at different blood sugar levels and with different foods that I eat. I just hope I don’t feel too crappy while I get it sorted out.

Last evening was my first attempt at drawing my #Insulin from a little bottle into a tiny syringe. Tracey had to do it for me to show me how. What a pain in the butt!

The pens are much easier to use but the #MedicalMafia has decided that cuts into their profits too much so I have to fumble around with the little syringes.

We have been treating #Diabetes effectively for decades. The new research we pay so dearly for is in the new methods of administering the insulin, but that doesn’t do me any good if my insurance company won’t pay for it.

Just another fine example of how badly we are ripped off and cheated by the Medical Mafia.

I ordered my #Insulin from #PharmacyWalgreens mail order about a week ago and have been nervous about it not getting here yet. I finally did some tracking and discovered it was supposed to have been dropped off at our doorstep days ago.

It took me a while to find this because although they gave me a tracking number they didn’t bother to tell me who was supposed to deliver it. Fed Ex evidently left it on the doorstep of somebody else. I will call this morning and find out what I’m supposed to do now.

When I got home from my walk yesterday I checked to see the progress on my replacement shipment of #Insulin that #FedEx was scheduled to deliver yesterday morning. The web site said it had been delivered, but it wasn’t at my house. So I was calling FedEx to complain when my neighbor came to the door with the package. It had been delivered to his house by mistake. This is getting old. At least I actually got my drugs this time but I do wish the FedEx driver would learn to read a house address.

I missed the #UPS delivery of my #Insulin yesterday and it was late afternoon before I looked on the tracking site to see where they were. It said it had been delivered already but it wasn’t out in front of the door where they usually leave it.

Finally I saw where the delivery person had said “side door” on the delivery notes. Good thing I had looked at the tracking page or it may have been days before we found it back there. We just don’t hardly ever use that door.

#Insulin Update:
I went to the doctor’s office last Fri. to change my brand of insulin. My new insurance charges $375 copay for each of two brands of insulin I use. Ouch. So I asked to change to brands the #InsuranceMafia “prefers”. I got a prescription to fill one of them which is actually free and the other, the long acting Lantus, the doctor wanted me to enroll in a program for a new drug and gave me a discount card. Supposed to only cost $15 per month with this card. So I spent about a half-hour on the phone Fri. evening “registering” this card.

We went to Walgreen’s in Pekin yesterday to pick up the new insulin and hit a dead end. The clerk said the discount card won’t cover the cost unless or until a co-pay determination is made by my drug insurance. My drug insurance says they won’t pay anything unless or until they get information from the doctor office for “prior approval”. So it has been punted back to the doctor office and as slow as they are it could be a while before they do that paperwork. Fortunately I still have the insulin pen “sample” the doctor gave me so I bought some needles and we are going to try the new stuff today. The gears grind infinitely slow in the #MedicalMafia.

Another insulin update:
I checked on my #Insulin shipment with FedEx and discovered #PharmacyWalgreens Mail Order had canceled the shipment. I called Walgreens and they don’t seem to know from nothing. So I got a Case Number. I feel so much better knowing I have a Case Number. Now I wait 24 - 48 hours for a call back to learn why they canceled the shipment. Meanwhile I am down to half a vial of insulin and counting. Gotta love modern medicine and the #MedicalMafia.

I just got a call from #PharmacyWalgreens Mail Order. Excitement! They are calling me back to tell me they have solved the problem and they are shipping my #Insulin?

No such luck. Just an automated survey wanting to know how delighted I am with the answers I got when I called last time. But of course there is no way they include the ability to tell them I got no answer at all and am still WAITING FOR AN ANSWER! And, NO, I am not happy with their service when they can’t answer a simple question like, “Why the heck did you cancel my insulin shipment?”

Not rocket surgery here —— ought to be a clear answer as to whom is responsible for the cancellation and why? I just wish they were this clueless when it comes to sending me a bill. How come they never make mistakes in MY favor? I mean, the law of averages would suggest at least once those “honest mistakes” would be in my favor?

Even more insulting —— the patent for #Insulin was sold by the discoverers for the price of about a dollar.

The estimated cost of production for a vial of human #Insulin is between $2.28 and $3.42, while the production cost for a vial of most analog insulins is between $3.69 and $6.16. They are still killing people at ½ the price.

I called the pharmacy yesterday and it was a good thing I did. Nobody had bothered to order the #Insulin they shorted me last week. Now we wait to see when (or if) it finally shows up.

I managed to finally get hold of somebody at the pharmacy yesterday to check into getting my #Insulin. I was told I could definitely get it on Monday. I’ll believe it when it happens.

Finally got the remaining #Insulin from the pharmacy. This will probably delay getting next month’s supply too as they ration it from the last time it was filled. Health care is getting scary.

Drugmaker Eli Lilly & Co is announcing a temporary shortage of two of its insulin products. “The 10 mL [millilter] vials of HumalogŪ and Insulin Lispro Injection are or will be temporarily out of stock at wholesalers and some pharmacies through the beginning of April,” Lilly said in a recent statement.
This hits close to home. I don’t use this brand of #Insulin -
but it could affect my supply eventually.
