The place where Senator John Ensign (R-NV) chose to give his press conference yesterday admitting his extra-martial affair, has some staffers laughing. If you look to his right, there’s a big “restrooms” sign. This is humorous because Ensign’s affair started in 2008, around the time he was giving Senator Larry Craig (R-ID) - who had his own restroom scandal - a very hard time about his indiscretions. Craig since served out his term and then retired, but Ensign was quoted as saying at the time implying Craig should resign: “I wouldn’t put myself hopefully in that kind of position, but if I was in a position like that, that’s what I would do. He’s going to have to answer that for himself.”  “It was just sort of glaring at me,” laughed one staffer of the “restrooms” plaque.

In 2011, Sen. John Eric Ensign, R-NV, announced he would step down amid a developing ethics probe over how he’d handled an admitted extramarital affair with a former staffer and whether he tried to illegally cover it up. (The Senate Ethics Committee referred the case to the Justice Department, which decided not to prosecute Ensign.) #JohnEnsign
