In 1870, John Davison Rockefeller Sr. incorporated Standard Oil. #JohnRockefeller#StandardOil It slays me the first Wikipedia sentence describes this robber baron as a “philanthropist”. As if being the richest man ever in the entire world wasn’t derived by the unpaid wages of all those who worked to enrich him by raping the planet for oil. I would much rather they called him what he was. Thief.

In 1937, John D. Rockefeller, Sr., died (aged 97). He was one of the wealthiest Americans of all time and the world’s first billionaire. Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil Company in 1870 and ran it until 1897. At its peak the company had 90% of the U.S. oil market. #JohnRockefeller
