Tracey found a dead fox behind the house near the laundry room deck. Most of the fur was gone so she thinks it probably died of mange. She scooped it up with a shovel and dumped it into the trees at the edge of our property. #Louie raced home ahead of her and before she could stop him he rolled in the guck that was left of the fox. So Louie got a very long bath with lots of flea and tick shampoo. Then Tracey bleached the heck out of the sink. So lets hope Louie doesn’t get mange. Or Tracey.

#Louie wandered off for a little adventure yesterday. Aaron and I spent some time looking for him and hollering his name. He finally showed up all wet and dirty. I don’t know where he went but it looked like he had some fun. I had just about given up on him.

I didn’t do anything else yesterday but sit around the house coughing, sneezing, wheezing, blowing my nose and generally just taking up space.

Tracey snuck home a little early from work so we could meet Noah at Monical’s in Pekin for supper. Again, it was great to see him. We didn’t get to visit with him nearly long enough. He will be leaving to return home to Phoenix this morning.

Tracey finally got a chance to try out her new carpet cleaner. After the last time we rented one Tracey decided she would like to have one of her very own. #Louie still has an “accident” now and then so this will help clean it up and get rid of the smell. I think it would be cheaper to get rid of Louie but that is considered blasphemy around here. Doesn’t keep me from suggesting it at least once a week, but I am outnumbered. Lucky Louie.

#Louie was about out of food yesterday and the only place that sells it is Petco in Peoria so we HAD to go to the Hometown Buffet too. Unfortunately we got there right between breakfast and lunch and the food selections were weird. Mashed potatoes with your eggs? Tracey had a $5 coupon for the dog food so it wasn’t a total loss.

Harvest is a particularly trying time for #Louie —— there is so much farm equipment driving up and down the lane Louie can’t keep up to bark at all of them! He races from the sun room to the front door and back every time they go by.

Louie is having a horrible, no good, very bad day. First the UPS truck arrives to deliver some computer stuff for Aaron, then right after that the FedEx truck shows up to deliver my medications and now the propane truck is here. There are two guys dragging a hose to our propane tank to fill it up and #Louie is going bat shit about it. Louie is very loud and my ears are ringing!

#Louie got an unscheduled bath last evening. Ben let him out while cleaning out his car and the silly dog rolled in a pile of nasty wet leaves and whatever. Louie was a real mess and ended up under the sink sprayer before we could let him loose in the house. He was quite proud of himself up until he got the bath, then not so much.

Although I was up for a little while around 2 a.m. I managed to sleep in until just after 6 a.m. Would have slept longer but #Louie lost his mind about something and went barking through the house. Since Tracey is gone he is on high alert and barks at anything that moves. It is getting very annoying to say the least. I know he can’t help it but I think about shooting him now and then.

Today is Tracey’s Dad’s birthday and she went to stay the weekend with her folks in #Watson. Aaron arrived shortly after 4 last evening and he went with her. They stopped at Jacksonville to pick Ben up too. Even #Louie the dog went along with them so I will have a quiet weekend. I got an email a few minutes ago saying they are going #Mushrooms hunting.

Tracey and Aaron arrived around 5 p.m. yesterday. Aaron didn’t stay long and headed home to his apartment. #Louie is a bit crippled again. He tries to keep up with everybody at the farm —— including chasing the four wheeler. He is just getting too old for that stuff. I imagine he will be snoozing a lot the next few days until he recuperates.

Tracey and I went to the Cracked Barrel for supper and settled in to watch some television before tottering off to bed. Tracey had a great time visiting with her family but is always glad to get home to her own bed.

I gave #Louie a Milkbone a while ago. He started flinging it around the room in his excitement and eventually it sailed out into the hallway. He couldn’t find it. Now he is sulking on his blanket. He will find it later, after he has forgotten all about it, and it will seem like brand new all over again. A dog’s life.

Tracey returned home last evening and our world is right again. The critters, #Louie and #Polly, were especially glad to see her home as they don’t think I pay enough attention to them.

Louie is going to the vet today to have his teeth cleaned and some bad teeth removed. I suspect he is going to have a very bad, no good day. And when he comes home he will probably blame me.

Tracey retrieved #Louie the dog from the vet yesterday afternoon. He was all shaved down for the summer, his nails trimmed and several teeth removed. He was still a little dazed from the anesthesia but very glad to be home again.

#Polly, the cat acted like it was no big deal yet just hours earlier she had been wandering the house looking for him.

We had some panic last evening when I discovered I didn’t know where Louie’s food is stored. It has been awhile since I’ve fed the dog and Tracey moved his food to a new cabinet. #Louie the dog and #Polly the cat followed me around looking very concerned while I looked for the dog food.

I sent a text message to Tracey and she told me where to find it. All was well but I’m sure both pets think the old man is not a very reliable stand in for Tracey.

I ordered pizza for supper, being the lazy bachelor last evening.

#Louie spent yesterday at the vet’s office. He had a “doggy spa day” as Tracey calls it. He had a bath then his hair and nails trimmed.

It was really quiet around here with Tracey at work, Louie at his spa day and no cat to bite my toes. I enjoyed it!

#Louie spent the weekend at the kennel and he was supposed to get all shaved and bathed at 7:30 yesterday morning. He wasn’t ready to go when we showed up to retrieve him at 9:30 a.m. It was another two hours before we got the call to come back to get him. Aggravation.
