#1 Click this link to see Blog page --> 06/28/2007 I’ve been watching more TV since we got DirecTV. I tend to wander from one “news” channel to another. They are all pretty lame. I never go to the Fox “noise” channel because it is almost totally political spin anymore. The others aren’t too far behind. I get fairly disgusted sometimes because I know there have to be people who swallow the corporate news version of reality hook, line and sinker.
For example, the sudden stink about #MichaelMoore’s mockumentary Sicko. They dutifully show a short clip and then bring out all the talking heads to explain why National Healthcare really is no good. They point to people in Canada having to wait up to 6 weeks for elective surgery —— all the while failing to mention it takes that long in most hospitals in America today. And they don’t even mention you will never get elective surgery in America if you don’t have insurance to pay for it. They talk about the “quality” of the care given to people in other countries that have a national health care plan. Again no mention that most of those countries have zero children without medical care and that our infant mortality rates are growing higher than some so-called 3rd world countries. The simple truth is that more and more Americans have no healthcare options at all because they can’t afford them. All this nonsense about it being available to them is akin to saying I could one day become President. Theoretically possible, but impossible in reality.
Another one that frosts my —— cookies —— is the nonsense we allow political whores like Ann Coulter to spew. She was recently allowed to spread her manure on MSNBC for a solid hour with hardly anybody forcing her to speak truth. This lying witch continues to enrich herself with sensationalism that appeals to those who used to hang on Lush Rimbaugh’s every outrageous word. Such stupidity does not belong on a “news” channel.
Imagine how Ed Morrow, David Brinkley, Walter Cronkite or other real news reporters would have reacted to the political clowns we see on TV everyday. I don’t think they would have even allowed them to share the same studio and I know they wouldn’t allow such ridiculous horse apples to be considered newsworthy chestnuts. They knew the difference and weren’t afraid to say so. Not anymore. |
