 | Belgian physicist Francois Englert holds a mug of beer after a news conference in Oviedo, Spain. Englert, U.S. professor Peter Higgs and the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) will receive the 2013 Principe de Asturias Award for technical and scientific research Friday. Englert and Higgs are also the 2013 Nobel Prize laureates in physics, for their theories that helped explain how matter formed after the Big Bang. In March, scientists at CERN confirmed the existence of the Higgs boson, which proved the mens theories. |
