I am going to play the Devil’s Advocate. Emphasis on PLAY. So keep this in mind because I’m can’t see the future and I’m not saying what I will or won’t do —— but pointing out some observations that puzzle me greatly.
First a fact —— Dimocrats are increasingly not voting. The Teahadi Party owns most of Congress, many state legislatures, and an increasing number of state governors. While there can be discussion as to why the Dimocrats are increasingly apathetic about voting there can be no argument that this trend exists.
Next. I have noticed an increasing meme in social media where those who support Bernie vow they won’t vote for Hillarity if she wins the primary. I have also noticed a large number of Hillarity supporters who believe they hold the moral high ground by saying IF Bernie wins the primary, they will vote for Bernie. Here comes the part of my argument about how I think they are part of the problem and not the solution. If you have a large number of voters who will not vote for Hillarity under any circumstance — how do you think you are more mature by refusing to believe this and vote for the continuing disintegration of the political party you hold so dear?
How can you argue Hillarity is a vital part of the establishment and will be better able to get things done in Washington and yet not also suspect that it is this very establishment that has alienated liberal and progressive voters?
I see two very real scenarios —— all those who want a Progressive in the White House vote for Bernie in the primary and we get Bernie in the White House. Or those who profess they could live with Bernie but vote for Hillarity in the primary and she wins the primary. Only to have a very significant number of people stay home for the General Election just as they vowed they would and we get a Teahadi in the White House instead.
We can then point fingers and blame all we want. But if we continue to do the same thing that has failed us miserably why vote for Hillarity in the first place?
This very discussion played out on Facebook yesterday and I was roundly cursed, ridiculed and then blocked by those very adult Hillarity supporters who believe they hold the high moral ground. Yet I was called the “childish” person for pointing out the simple fact that Democrats aren’t voting for a reason and why I think that reason isn’t going away if Hillarity wins the primary. |
