#Sept11
Another September 11th comes around —— five years later and so many unanswered questions. I remember the price of gasoline skyrocketed to over $4 a gallon at many local gas stations and there was a panic about some unexplained and sudden “gas shortage”. Why was that allowed to happen and what (if anything) was ever done about it?

I remember wondering what the heck happened to our elected officials because none of them were on TV or radio telling America what had happened or was happening. CNN and MSNBC became our leaders that day five years ago.

I could go on and on and I suspect most people would find me terribly unpatriotic for questioning my government rather than simply hating the “terrorists”, but I have always been curious about the unexplained.

We consider ourselves a nation of independent thinkers, but whenever anyone starts acting independent —— asking questions, etc. —— we tend to ridicule them as crackpots or worse.

A good friend of mine sent me the following link recently with the admonition that I should look it over and think about it before posting it to my site. I have done that and I must admit there is much there that I disagree with, there is even more that I just don’t know what to think about it.

All in all though I think it is better to seek answers rather than hide from the questions so I share this link with you.

Maybe you already know the answers to some of these questions. I think my friend said it very well with the following:
“Look at the videos 1 - 7 and then check out the other video offerings. I have been watching and reading about this stuff for about six months now and really don’t know what to do with what I have come to believe. I don’t believe everything I see but there are enough questions raised that should be simple enough to answer. That they are not being answered I find very disturbing.”

I suspect a reason why the questions are unanswered is that a large number of our otherwise understanding “leaders” just can’t believe anyone could plot such a conspiracy against “our own people”.

What disturbs me most about all this is that we have somehow convinced ourselves that “terrorists are not like us” —— and they are exactly like us. They are people too.

“They” could be anybody, even Americans (as in the case of the Oklahoma bombing which has many unanswered questions too). I will end this the way I started and it is the point of my thinking.

I’ve never read or seen any report which explains how the date Nine Eleven was determined as the date of the attack on our country. I think the number reference “Nine Eleven” evolved from our use of the numbers to report emergencies. That is just my opinion. I think otherwise we would call it something similar to “Pearl Harbor Day”. Something like WTC Day. Duh-bya and the GQP Congress at the time designated it as “Patriot Day” but I don’t think very many people know that. I wouldn’t have except that is what my calendar says. Most people just call it Nine Eleven.

Regardless of what we call it or our political persuasions —— I would like to think that most people can agree it was a horrible deed. On any other day I would probably drag out my soap box and start in on what I think of what happened afterwards, but I think it would be better not to do that. You’ve probably all heard it before. Instead I think I’ll just ask that you remember those who died or were injured on this day six years ago, their families and their friends. Remember also the thousands who have died or been injured as a result of those attacks up to today. And hope that by next year’s memorial —— no more people are being hurt or killed because of Nine Eleven.

I didn’t watch any TV yesterday. All the stuff about Sept. 11th makes me so sad on so many different levels. Especially the idiots who continue to rant about Iraq in connection to the attacks of that day.

I am so tired of that same lie over and over. It is degrading to the memory of the poor people who suffered so badly nine years ago to continue using this lie to justify the carnage in Iraq.

There is a horrible irony about a day of remembrance for an atrocity over a decade ago —— and yet our headlines are full of speculation about whether or not we should enter a third war in the middle east while our people are still on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan — two wars started by the actions of this day we are remembering. But we don’t seem to be remembering much of what has happened in between. Sad.

The evening news was inundated with Sept. 11th remembrance and I suppose that is natural enough. It disturbed me greatly to see a piece on a local school teaching kids that the Iraq war casualties were true heroes for protecting us from terrorists in Iraq. That is so wrong on so many levels. Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with the attacks on Sept. 11th. History being taught in this warped manner is a sad result of a nation who can’t accept the mistake of following an idiot President in attacking countries on false pretext. I honor our veterans —— but I also try to honor the truth.
