I have to tell you this article caught my interest mainly because I was (am) an unabashed Trekkie.

Beaming people in Star Trek fashion is still in the realms of science fiction, but physicists in Denmark have teleported information from light to matter bringing quantum communication and computing closer to reality.

When I was a kid Star Trek really impressed me and I eventually read all the books of just about every science fiction writer.

By the time I was in high school my imagination was fueled by the thought of a future world teeming with robots and computers that would allow us all to live in a world of leisure.

We now live in a world teeming with robots and computers that allow only a few to live in leisure and have replaced the jobs of many thousands of people. I guess I didn’t account for the overwhelming greed of those who would make sure mankind stays in the dark ages so the few can prosper.

I have to admit that Tracey & I have managed to keep our heads above water in this computer revolution and we do enjoy many of the latest gadgets. Now I dream of a breakthrough in energy that would allow the average person to create limitless energy at almost no cost. An invention or process that was readily available and affordable to the common person.

I also dream mankind will one day evolve fast enough to enjoy our technology before we kill ourselves off with it. I always did have such an unrealistic imagination.

I am a Trekkie, maybe one of the originals. When #StarTrek first premiered I was there watching every episode from the first to the last. Same way with The Next Generation and most of the movies. Having said that, I always wished they had cast somebody, anybody, but #WilliamShatner.

What an overblown windbag of ego. I have seen interviews where this guy has explained how Star Trek would never have made it off the ground were it not for him. I personally think they would have eventually won an Emmie for acting or writing if he had never been there!

I guess you aren’t a Trekkie (a Star Trek fan?) or you would know that LLAP means “Live Long And Prosper”. This is the ancient Vulcan greeting Spock made famous. Tracey and I watched a #StarTrek Voyager episode on DVD last evening and there is a scene where they are watching a 3D movie on the holodeck. The entire concept was very amusing and I had to share.

Several evenings ago we tried to watch #StarTrek Discovery and didn’t get much past the first fifteen minutes. As an old time Trekkie I was totally disgusted with this new age distortion of the franchise and simply refuse to watch such trash. If a network wants to do a revisionist sci-fi show it ought to at least not sponge off the name of a good series.

What are we missing here. We are thinking if we pronounce those words in the right way or speed and it will make sense. Sue just looked up the darmok and jalad at tanagra and discovered it is a Star Trek NG reference, and the shaka when the walls fell is a reference to a failure still not helping?

After watching several episodes of Star Trek: Picard we finally gave it up last evening in the middle of an episode. I really like #PatrickStewart and the early episodes seemed to have possibility but it quickly devolved into chaotic plot twists, bad writing and ever worse supporting actors.

One particularly bad actor continually stared off into space. I presume this was supposed to be some kind of soulful introspection or visual angst. He just looked a bit mentally unstable to me. I’ve seen guys who did that sort of thing in real life hauled off the shop floor to be drug tested.

Some pseudo warrior beheads a Romulan with a sword, for no particular reason that we could see, and that did it. Gratuitous sword violence isn’t a good addition to the #StarTrek universe.

The original model of the starship Enterprise has returned to the family of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. Heritage Auctions last week returned the long-lost model, featured in the original Star Trek series’ opening credits, to Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry Jr, CEO of Roddenberry Entertainment and son of the late Gene Roddenberry, the company announced on Thursday. The three-foot-long USS Enterprise was believed to have disappeared in the 1970s when Gene Roddenberry loaned it to the makers of Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
