I just got home from a short trip to Tremont. I went to the bank to get a couple rolls of the new presidential dollars of Rutherford Hayes. No problem there.

I decided to get some gas in the Blazer and had to listen to the guy the next pump over bitch about how high gas prices were all Obummer’s fault. Whatever.

Then I dropped by the #Subway in town thinking I would get a couple of their breakfast sandwiches to take home with me. I was told to wait “a minute” when I pulled up to the drive-through. I waited a minute by my watch and left. Guess they were too busy to take my money.

So now I’m back home thinking about what I should eat for my late breakfast / early lunch?

We decided we would have #Subway for supper last evening. The Internet site said they were open so we ordered over the Internet. Aaron went to pick it up and the person at the drive-up window explained they had just closed and she cancelled the order. How nice?

Supposedly it only takes 15 minutes to fill the order and that didn’t happen. And it would have been nice if they had simply called on the phone and saved Aaron the time and gas wasted. Yes. I wrote a letter of complaint to Subway Inc. home office. Because that’s how I roll I guess.

Last Sunday (Easter Sunday) we looked up #Subway on the Internet and the site said the Tremont location was open and taking orders. So we placed an order and Aaron went to pick it up ten minutes later.

He was greeted at the drive up window by somebody who explained she had cancelled the order because they had just closed. She assured Aaron we would not be charged because she cancelled the credit charge too.

I wasn’t too happy that she couldn’t have bothered to call us instead of letting Aaron drive all the way to town wasting time and gas for nothing. I lodged a complaint with the home office via the Internet that day.

I just got a call from some woman at the Tremont store who tried to explain that the store was closed and there was nobody there that day. She clearly had no clue what had actually happened and was basically calling me a liar when I told her somebody was there and they should have called us.

She continued to harass me, “Look, I’m not going to argue ——” I disconnected the call. She was clearly arguing with me and I have no Earthly idea why she bothered to call me if only to tell me I don’t know what I am talking about.

It would have been better to leave it be. I wrote another complaint to the home office via Internet form and then called them to vent a little more. Ridiculous.

The home office gives me this song and dance about local owners have to solve the problems. I told her, politely, that we ordered via the Internet which is a national site and THEY have a responsibly to supervise their Internet orders.

She said she would speak with Mark Somebody who owns several stores in the area. Whatever. I told her I don’t want another call from whomever I had just spoken to —— I don’t appreciate being called a liar. I’m thinking Subway is off my diet.

Update 04/10/23
We basically quit eating Subway after this incident.
Probably only one or two times in all the years since.

Another update on the Subway saga —— I got an email from the District Manager for the Subway in Tremont.

It said, in part, “I received your comment about the rude Manager and I would like to apologize for that. Please from now on, if you have any concerns at all regarding this Subway, contact me directly whether via e-mail or a phone call and I would be glad to rectify the situation, whatever it may be, for you.
Thanks again for your time!”

This is the first I have heard that I was speaking to the “Manager”. I appreciate the thought and effort but I’m afraid I won’t be going there for a while — if ever.

We did not go back since this fiasco. We have since moved away from Tremont but we didn’t go back for at least three years.
Yes. I can hold a grudge.
