A conservator glances at a body of a victim who was frozen in its last moment when Mount Vesuvius in Italy erupted in 79 A.D. during the installation of an exhibition at the National Museum of Singapore Monday, Oct. 4th, 2010. The exhibition, titled Pompeii: Life in a Roman Town 79 CE, showcasing relics from Pompeii which was buried under the pyroclastic flow of Mount Vesuvius until its discovery through an archaeological excavation in 1748 will open in Singapore on Oct. 16th until Jan. 23rd, 2011.

An archeologist works behind a wall bearing frescos of animals in a house discovered during excavation works, in Pompeii, Italy, on Oct. 5th. Archaeologists excavating near Porta Vesuvio, in an unexplored part of Pompeii, have discovered a richly painted house with incredibly intact frescos and a majestic lararium, a shrine to the guardian spirits, one of the largest discovered in the city buried when Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD.
