#Win8 on Tracey’s tablet died.

Tracey said, “It was working but now it’s not.”

That pretty well sums up Microsoft. Anyone who uses the software knows that at any moment it is likely to go belly up and simply not work anymore. We tried resetting it to no avail and there was no restore either. So until we can wipe it and reload everything it is just an expensive bookend.

I spent some time reinstalling #Win8 on Tracey’s tablet. There will still be a lot of programs that need to be reloaded and settings to be reset. I can’t help but wonder how many years it will take Microsoft to improve this crapware to the point it is marginally reliable.

Oh —— and I forgot to mention that throughout the day yesterday I finished up re-installing #Win8 on Tracey’s tablet. It didn’t get to my blood pressure too horribly as I would set it to a task of downloading or installing and then just walk away from it for a while. Still, I am pretty disgusted with how unstable the software is and how clunky the interface is. Hopefully the finished product scheduled to come out in October will be better because Tracey really likes it on her touch screen tablet.

Tracey’s experiment with #Win8 on her tablet has ended. I have spent the past few days re-installing #Win7 on the machine and trying to get things all squared away again. She took it to work yesterday so we will see what problems we may still need to fix.

This article sums up the incredibly stupid #Win8 Start Menu fiasco. And that is just the beginning of the insanity dumped on consumers with this terrible incarnation of Windows that attempts to mimic iPad “apps”, etc. etc.

Members of the media examine Microsoft Surface tablet PCs in a scale model of New York during the launch event for the tablet and Microsoft’s Windows 8 in New York October 25th, 2012.
Every time Microsoft releases a new OS it seems to be worse than the last one. I already know Windows 8 is a flop and if it doesn’t change we may have to consider Linux or Apple.

#Microsoft has decided since #Win8 can’t compete on its own merit it will strong-arm computer makers into making computers that can’t be downgraded to a stable system and you are stuck with Windows 8 crapware.

In some ways this article sums up my experience with Windows 8 as far as the clunky interface and #ArtsyFartsy design. I also had many issues with the fact there are many things that, to date, Windows 8 just will not do at all.

We downgraded back to Windows 7 on Tracey’s Windows tablet, and then finally just went with the iPAD out of frustration. I’m sure we are not alone.
