The Summer Solstice at Stonehenge is a truly magical time to be there. It’s an ad hoc celebration that brings together England’s New Age Tribes (neo-druids, neo-pagans, Wiccans) with ordinary families, travelers and party people. Solstice nowadays is a peaceful and moving experience, but that wasn’t always the case. For years, Wiltshire police fought pitched battles with the people who were drawn to see the sunrise on the longest day of the year at Stonehenge.
Today is a busy day already! It is Father’s Day, the Longest Day of the year and it is my Mom’s Birthday! The first two don’t mean all that too much to me but ——
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
Tracey was working last evening so she didn’t get to go out and eat with Mom, Alan, Glo, Tom and me. We had a very nice evening. Mom had to have her car towed in to the Chevy dealership in Morton earlier in the week and they really put the boots to her with the bill. Over $900 to replace an intake manifold gasket. I think maybe now she agrees with me that Grimm’s is no good anymore and she needs to start going elsewhere.
And finally I found this note on my keyboard this morning which raises more questions than I can answer. Will it still be in there or has it found a way out? If it IS still in there how can we catch it without opening the door and letting it out? What to do!?

#PowerOutage We survived all those nasty thunderstorms without the electricity so much as flickering and last night, for no reason apparent to us, the power went out for about 10 minutes. Just long enough to make sure every clock in the house has to be reset. And for this we get to pay ever increasing rates.

Advice on mice... don’t hit it with a flimsy broom with your eyes closed -- it doesn’t work!
I had a mouse last summer in my classroom right before the kids were to come in. I had been sweeping the floor when I saw it. YIKES! To me, mice are ok if they are pets and in a cage! I just couldn’t bring myself to hit the darn thing so I closed my eyes and whacked away!
It didn’t work and I taught my 1 hour class with a mouse. Of course, it just had to come out with the kids there and walk around the bookshelf right next to me. I watched it out of the corner of my eye and nobody ever saw it. To walk out and around the bookshelf, it walked right past the kids, but they were too busy playing with playdoh to notice it (of course I kept talking so that their eyes wouldn’t wander). I couldn’t believe that I kept my cool with a mouse in the house!
Where did this rain come from! I still had 1/2 of my dad’s yard to mow! Darn it!

#Memories Decades ago, before I was even in my teens, I remember my Mom taking a box of tea bags out of cupboard and suddenly she just stood there as if frozen.
It caught my attention and I saw what she was looking at —— it was a mouse tail sticking out of the box. Just as she realized what she was looking at —— it moved!
She let out a shout and threw the box straight up in the air and it crashed to the floor mouse and all. The little critter was just laying there on it’s back and the poor thing was so stunned it couldn’t move. I don’t recall if he got away or if one our cats got him but I thought that was the most hilarious thing I had seen in my young life. I think the mouse was definitely more scared than Mom was!
