Bill Mauldin, whose drawings of his “grunt” infantrymen Willie and Joe told the true story about what it was like on the front lines in World War Two, and whose work appeared in Stars & Stripes during the war, will be honored later this month with an official postage stamp. He died at 81 in 2003. |
