In a photo released by the Guatemalan government, a sinkhole covers an intersection in downtown Guatemala City. A day earlier authorities blamed Tropical Storm Agatha’s heavy rains as the cause of the crater that swallowed a three-story building, but now they say they will be conducting further studies to determine the cause. In April 2007, another giant sinkhole in the same area killed three people. |
