A top secret space shuttle has blasted off from Cape Canaveral. The Air Force launched the unmanned spacecraft, December 11th, aboard an Atlas V rocket. Designed to be launched like a satellite and land like an airplane, the second X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle, built by Boeing for the United States Air Force’s Rapid Capabilities Office, is an affordable, reusable space vehicle.

Boeing’s CST-100 Starliner spacecraft has suffered a major setback on its maiden spaceflight today. About 15 minutes after a successful liftoff from Space Launch Complex 41 on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida atop a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket at 6:36 am EST, the unmanned vehicle designed to ferry astronauts to and from the International Space Station (ISS) suffered a timer malfunction that has placed it in an incorrect orbit.
Although this is a completely different division from the airplane side of the business, it would appear #Boeing #Starliner can’t catch a break.

A likely tire explosion killed two Delta Air Lines employees and injured another at the Delta Technical Operations center in Atlanta Tuesday morning. Delta TechOps is located at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and provides maintenance and repair services for Delta’s air fleet.
Twitter sentiment leans toward blaming
Boeing for yet another failure.

The Air Force overpaid for soap dispensers used in the bathrooms of C-17 military aircraft by 7,943% — or more than 80 times the price of similar commercially available dispensers — according to a Defense Department inspector general report released. The dispensers were one of about a dozen spare parts for which Boeing overcharged the Air Force, according to the report, resulting in nearly $1 million in additional and unnecessary costs. The costs of the soap dispenser from Boeing, the similar soap dispenser and the number of dispensers purchased by the Air Force were redacted in the report, but in total, the Air Force overpaid $149,072 for the soap dispensers.
