It looks like it is time to start working on the annual #Georgetowne Reunion again. Last year Rick Underwood volunteered to host the event in the Atlanta area. So we begin to make decisions and I will soon send out invitations by email and post office. I really look forward to getting together with my oldest friends from that long ago age.

I spent most of the day yesterday typing an invitation to our #Georgetowne reunion, printing it, folding it, stuffing envelopes, licking yucky envelopes, printing labels, labeling envelopes, buying stamps, stamping envelopes, and —— mailing envelopes. Even with all that it is worth seeing old friends!

I programmed the Holiday Inn Express in Fayetteville, GA, into the map system of the #Honda —— that is where I will be staying next weekend for my #Georgetowne Jr High reunion.

I will need to work on the silly thing a little because it wants to take me through Memphis rather than through Nashville. It will be the first time either Tracey or I will get a chance to really use it on a long trip —— we shall see how it works.

I will leave on the Thursday and hope to be home again by about noon the following Monday. Should be a nice two-day drive there, spend Saturday reunioning, and then two days back again.

I briefly considered flying but I am afraid I would end up in jail if they asked me to take off my shoes or something. The whole Homeland Security foolishness tries my patience and I don’t have much of that. Besides —— driving will be considerably cheaper.

I will miss the get together with Marlene and Gene this weekend, but I should get to see them some time later in the week.

Just thought I would take a quick minute to post this before I finish packing and head for the highway. I should be somewhere around Nashville when I stop this afternoon —— unless I find some tourist attraction along the way that slows me down. Type at you next Tuesday!

I had a nice trip to Atlanta and back for my #Georgetowne Jr High School class reunion. Only six of us made it this time but we still had a good time swapping memories and catching up with each other. Our hosts were Rick & Beth Underwood and they treated us wonderfully!

Even though I was only gone for a short time my inbox was full of spam, my snail-mailbox was full of bills and the speakers on my computer have mysteriously become garbled and static filled.

I missed the reunion with my family at Alan’s house but Tracey and the boys went so they filled me in on some of that when I got home late last evening. I hope to catch up with Aunt Marlene and Uncle Gene later today sometime.

It will take me a day or two to get the Blog back up to speed (I have to fix my speakers first!). I have shared a picture of the happy reunion people above!

Some fellow classmates and I are starting to plan for another class reunion of the 1969 #Georgetowne Tigers.

I am the keeper of the list of email and snail mail addresses, such as it is. I need to get a letter together to send announcing this event. Unfortunately each passing year we seem to have fewer valid addresses and emails. People just don’t remember us when they move I guess.

I have been procrastinating on doing this and perhaps this weekend would be a good time to commence to get ready to prepare to start starting on it?

I have finally started working on the contact list for the #Georgetowne Reunion. I need to put together, mail and email an announcement about when and where this reunion will be. For those interested here — Saturday, September 24th at the pavilion in Independence Park, Marquette Heights. Oddly enough the reunion of 2006 was the main reason I began this blog and I don’t think hardly anyone ever goes to the Georgetowne pages anymore.

I spent a good deal of time yesterday printing out the invitations and labels to our #Georgetowne Reunion —— and then all the folding, envelope stuffing, labeling, stamping, etc. That also included a trip to the Tremont post office to get the stamps.

Today is the reunion for my eighth grade Jr High class. We graduated in 1969 from #Georgetowne Jr High in N. Pekin. Gosh but I do feel old.

I had a really great time at our #Georgetowne Reunion yesterday. Everybody started showing up between 10 a.m. and noon. It was rather chilly most of the time without much sun to warm us. And downright cold when the wind started blowing. A classmate invited us all to her home around 1 p.m. So we left a note telling any later arrivals how to find us and we went to her house.

I didn’t get home until almost 11 p.m. It was really a lot of fun catching up with old times. Remembering past events and learning of things we either didn’t remember or never knew. I am already looking forward to the next!

This is the best group shot I have. Doug Driver and myself aren’t in it but I think everyone else is. I hope to put more up here in the #Georgetowne section and on Facebook later today.

I went to a mini-reunion of classmates from my Jr High school. We met at Starbucks and sat outside to talk for a while. They were in town for the high school reunion that I didn’t go to. After I left them I went to Decatur to visit with Tracey a bit. I had hoped to have dinner with her but her boss took her out to eat and have a “business meeting”. I got home a bit after 8:00, watched some TV and went to bed.

On a side note, I have to say I finally bought a coffee at Starbucks and I thought it was hilarious. The first thing I told the coffee bar dude was that I didn’t speak #Starbucks - I just wanted a plain coffee. He starts in with “Grande” this and what roast or blend. I must have told him three times to just get me a plain cup of coffee. I almost think they do that crap on purpose just to justify $2 for a cup of 25¢ coffee.

We had another small group of classmates from #Georgetowne get together last evening. There were six of us at the #BobEvans in Pekin for a few hours. Lots of stories and memories.

I’m really glad I went to the junior high school reunion yesterday. Fifty years is such a long time and we all shared some great memories and I learned quite a few new things about my classmates. It was clear everybody made a very conscious effort to steer away from politics and I think that helped a great deal.
